No Snow For You!

It's snowing! Big, fluffy, stick-to-your-tongue flakes! I went outside, spun around a couple of times when the security camera was facing the other direction, and took a couple of photos.

Then at 5 p.m., 54 legals landed on my desk. And, per my "clean desk" philosophy, I won't leave until the work is finished ...

... which makes me feel like Cinderella, toiling away in my closet while my coworkers have spirited away to a masquerade ball. (Okay, they probably just went home, but that's not nearly as dramatic.)

P.S. A quote for a certain someone: "If you want to be somebody, if you want to go somewhere, you better wake up and pay attention." Silly movie, good advice. Follow it and it won't lead you astray — promise.

I try not to model my life after the films of Whoopie Goldberg, but if it works for you, great. Did you ever see the film "Fatal Beauty?" She kisses Sam Eliot at the end. Supposedly they had filmed a sex scene between them, but it was cut from the movie. I believe she blamed it on racism, but c'mon... WHOOPIE GOLDBERG AND SAM ELIOT. Do you want to see either of these people in a love scene? Now, put them together and imagine it. Racism has nothing to do with it. It's just common sense.

I didn't say /anything/ about the film being good. But I thought it was good advice at 13 years old when the movie came out ... and I still think it's important to remember that as long as you're sitting on your laurels, the only move you can make is lateral.

In any case, the quote was directed at someone who reads this every day but has never commented before. (Well, maybe once?) She's got a lot of big stuff staring her in the face right now, and I can't think of better advice than to tell her to keep her eyes open, follow her intuition, and not settle for the comfort zone. (It might also apply to her musician protege son?)

Get well soon, dear. Hope that Vitamin Water didn't land you on your death bed.
